Looking Glass Theatre was founded in 1998 through ‘The Princes Trust’, to tour quality productions in the Midlands, predominantly Northamptonshire.
Since this time, the company has toured rural and community venues with plays such as Beyond Wuthering Heights, Ghost Stories, The Time Machine, Dick Turpin the Musical, Sense & Sensibility, Frankenstein, The Headless Horseman, Twist, The Secret Garden, The Crucible, Treasure Island, Killed, The Hound of the Baskervilles and The Wind in the Willows. We have just completed an exciting autumn season which included Ghost Walks, a WW1 play Killed (touring Northamptonshire for the third year)and our touring family pantomime ‘Robin Hood & Babes in the Wood’. In 2005, we launched our first touring pantomime and due to its great success, we were able follow in suit with classic fairytales including Jack and the Beanstalk, Aladdin, Dick Whittington, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Robin Hood and Babes in the Wood . Our next Christmas show will be Beauty and the Beast in December 2017. A large part of Looking Glass’s work has also been in Schools with Theatre-in-Education work and with local Councils, running drama workshops. Between 2003 and 2007, we ran a Theatre School for Children which taught not only acting skills but had the option of dance classes as well. From January 9th 2010, our Theatre School opened its doors once more to children between the age of 8 and 18 and currently run classes in acting, technical theatre, singing and Dance.
Since moving into our new home in the Heritage Gateway of the Town - Hazelrigg House, 33 Marefair, Northampton, NN1 1SR - we have recently expanded our business by taking on the running of The Works Theatrical Costume and Fancy Dress hire shop based at 157 Adnitt Rd., Northampton.
